BlockBeats News, September 7 — In the past year ending September 6, the strongest-performing sector in the crypto market has been privacy assets. The total market cap of privacy tokens has surged from $7.1 billion a year ago to $33.6 billion, a gain of approximately 3.7 times, with nearly half of that market cap increase coming in the last 30 days.
ZEC is the core asset driving this sector's breakout, rising 2,496% over the past year, with its market cap now accounting for about 62% of the entire privacy sector, and its ranking jumping from 82nd to 7th place. During the same period, XMR's price doubled, while DASH, XMR, and ZEN have all outperformed BTC over the last 90 days.
Over the past 30 days, 91.5% of the top 200 crypto assets posted gains, but only 25 assets rose over the past year. The privacy sector has become the only segment whose overall market cap is higher than the market peak of October 6, 2025, currently up 213% from that level. Excluding ZEC, the privacy asset index is still up 85% over the past year, indicating that this rally is not driven solely by a single token.
