BlockBeats News, September 7 - Silicon Valley angel investor Liron Shapira stated that he believes there is approximately a 50% chance that Bitcoin (BTC) prices will drop by more than 50% over the next two years. He argues that the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) could weaken some of the market's previous perceptions of Bitcoin's security and robustness, thereby impacting the long-term value support of BTC.
In response, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin holds a contrasting view. He expressed considerable optimism about the long-term cybersecurity landscape, stating that the primary issue lies in how to execute this transition. He expects that Bitcoin will handle problems that do not require social consensus well, such as upgrading clients and mining pools to address network-layer attacks. Moreover, he believes the probability of the hash algorithm or PoW mechanism being genuinely compromised is extremely low.
Vitalik further stated that he has actually bet on this view through asset allocation. Currently, approximately 90% of his net worth is allocated to crypto assets.
