BlockBeats News, September 6th, Harmony announced plans to fully shut down the Harmony network and migrate its native token ONE to Ethereum, citing excessive threats from state-sponsored attackers and AI agents. According to the proposal, validators can cease node operations starting at 7:00 AM Pacific Time on September 10, 2026. The project will shift its development focus toward the "AI video derivative creation economy." The plan intends to open up prompts and materials for creators and fans to produce derivative works, with AI agents then expanding content branches into more stories.
The migration plan proposes taking a snapshot at the network's final block and airdropping the new ONE tokens to the same Ethereum wallet addresses without requiring active claims. Delegated staking and unclaimed rewards will be directed into respective governance treasuries. However, multi-signature wallets, liquidity pools, and on-chain applications cannot be migrated, and Harmony urges users to exit all smart contracts before September 10, 2026.
Regarding the AI video business, Harmony is recruiting operators responsible for video generation, media distribution, and content moderation. In the first year, hardware costs will be subsidized and video generation demand will be promoted. Operators must stake tokens to qualify and will receive rewards based on online service hours for generation, while also bearing other operational costs. The platform will also track and incentivize contributions to original content, derivative works, and promotion.
Validators can cease node operations starting at 7:00 AM Pacific Time on September 10th. Harmony proposes to provide a one-time compensation totaling $1.372 million, distributed over 4 quarters, to validators and their delegators who shut down nodes on time, sign the agreement, retain staking, and continue participating in governance. The total supply and issuance rate of ONE will remain unchanged, with subsequent token issuance intended for the AI video project, and related arrangements will incorporate feedback from governance participants.
