BlockBeats News, September 5 - According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, XDOF, a startup specializing in collecting real-world remote operation data for training general-purpose robots, is in late-stage negotiations for a Series B funding round less than three months after emerging from stealth mode, with an expected valuation of approximately $1.2 billion. The round is led by 8VC.
XDOF was co-founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu (CEO) and Fred Shentu (CTO). The company previously completed a $70 million Series A funding round with investors including Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Lux, and Spark Capital. XDOF had not originally planned to raise funds again so quickly after completing that round, but sources said the company's business has grown rapidly, with annualized revenue approaching $50 million, attracting multiple venture capital firms to proactively reach out and drive a new funding round.
TechCrunch was unable to learn the specific amount of this round or confirm whether the aforementioned $1.2 billion valuation includes the new funding. Sources indicated that the deal terms have not yet been finalized and may still change.
