Flashshield: Crypto Industry Saw 50 Major Hacking Incidents in August, a 67% Increase Month-over-Month

BlockBeats News, September 1st, according to PeckShield monitoring, in August 2026, the crypto industry experienced 50 major hacking attacks, a 67% increase from July's 30 cases, with a total loss of approximately $136.3 million, representing a 49.5% decrease from the previous month.

Among them, the Cronos ecosystem's lending protocol Tectonic suffered a hack with a loss of approximately $74 million, marking the largest single event of the month and the fourth-largest crypto asset theft event of the year. The attacker bridged only about $6 million to Ethereum before Cronos paused its network, leaving the majority of the funds stranded on Cronos.
