SemiAnalysis: Samsung Currently Leads in HBM4 Technology, Micron and SK hynix Face Challenges

BlockBeats News, August 31st, SemiAnalysis released its latest podcast episode, pointing out that SK Hynix and Micron have been facing challenges in achieving the highest HBM4 speed. In particular, SK Hynix had to redesign its underlying chip, leading to a delay in the delivery of HBM4 supply to NVIDIA's Rubin platform.

Samsung currently has the best HBM4 technology. Broadcom has traditionally relied heavily on Samsung for its HBM supply. Samsung performed poorly in the HBM3E generation, putting Broadcom's ASIC at a disadvantage. However, now Samsung is leading its competitors with HBM4, and this same supply chain relationship has become an advantage for Jalapeño.
