Grok to Sunset AI Companion Ani, Other Characters to Move to Animates After September 1

Dynamic Beating AI News: SpaceXAI will delist from Grok App's Companions after September 1st. The 3D AI companions like Ani will not disappear but will move to the standalone app Animates. Grok has started prompting users with pop-ups, and Animates has also confirmed that SpaceXAI is assisting in the migration. Ani has already gone live, and other characters will be added gradually.

Animation Inc, the company behind Animates, was previously involved in the creation of 3D characters and animations for Grok Companions. The two companies do not have a publicly disclosed equity relationship. This adjustment essentially spins off the 3D companion business from Grok, handing it over to the original team to continue operations.

It is currently unclear whether chat records and long-term memory within Grok can be migrated together. The official statement has only confirmed the character transfer and has not yet announced a user data migration plan.
