BlockBeats News, August 29th, Qualcomm plans to launch a long-term robot investment plan in Japan, with the newly established Qualcomm Japan Robotics Center as the core, collaborating with Japanese robot, industrial automation, research, and technology companies to build an open-ended physical AI ecosystem.
Qualcomm stated that the plan aims to promote Japan's technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the fields of robotics, physical AI, and industrial automation, while responding to Japan's policy needs to address labor shortages, enhance industrial competitiveness, and expand AI and robot applications.
The Qualcomm Japan Robotics Center will be responsible for functions such as application development, industrial ecosystem collaboration, talent cultivation, and robot innovation. Participating organizations include Fanuc, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Toyota, Sony, Panasonic, Fujitsu, NEC, NTT DOCOMO, KDDI, Preferred Networks, and other Japanese companies and research institutions.
This investment plan covers the entire lifecycle of robots from technology research and development to commercial deployment and global expansion, mainly including four pillars: establishing a robot research center, expanding the industrial ecosystem, promoting global commercialization of Japanese robot companies, and supporting demonstrative physical AI projects.
Qualcomm stated that it hopes to help Japanese robot startups, developers, and research institutions accelerate innovation and promote Japanese robot solutions from the domestic market to the global market by providing chip platforms, technical support, development resources, and a global customer and partner network.
