Dynamic Perception Beating AI News: Over 100 companies including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, AWS, etc., have jointly issued an open letter calling for urgent enhancement of cyber defenses. Companies such as Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Cisco, Visa, Oracle are also on the list.
These companies anticipate that in the coming months, AI will lead to an increase in cyber attacks, making them more sophisticated and harder to defend against. Systems like hospitals, water treatment facilities, and internet infrastructure are at particularly high risk. Previously, attackers had to spend time finding vulnerabilities and writing attack tools themselves, but now much of this work can be automated with AI, lowering the barrier to launching attacks.
The open letter also provides several specific recommendations. Companies are urged to promptly patch critical vulnerabilities, cybersecurity firms should share more threat intelligence, and governments should provide additional funding and technical support to essential facilities such as hospitals and water services. AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are encouraged to open up their models, tools, and training to the defense side, enabling security personnel to use AI for vulnerability assessment and remediation.
