Per The Information report, the Trump administration's recent executive order to establish a new artificial intelligence self-regulatory organization has stalled. Sources familiar with the matter stated that the White House has circulated a draft of the executive order internally in the past few weeks, but the plan has not made further progress.
Prior to this, the Trump administration had been advocating for the creation of a unified AI regulatory framework and had been seeking to limit conflicting AI regulatory rules among states. If this new regulatory agency plan continues to be on hold, it could further delay the development of a federal-level AI industry regulatory system in the United States.
