Dynamic Insight Breaking News: Personal AI assistant Instinct, with a valuation of $25 billion, founded by 23-year-old Noah Shinn.
According to The Wall Street Journal, he dropped out of Northeastern University in 2023, where he had been conducting research in machine learning and programming languages at both Northeastern and MIT.
Shinn is most well-known for his research on Reflexion. He was the first author of a paper presented at NeurIPS 2023, proposing that the Agent should reflect on its failures, learn from them to form memories, and apply them to the next task. The paper achieved a 91% pass@1 on HumanEval, outperforming the GPT-4 results reported in the paper at 80%.
He later participated in the development of the τ-bench Agent evaluation, testing whether models could interact with users, utilize tools, follow business rules, and maintain stability through multiple runs. Shinn then joined enterprise AI Agent company Sierra as one of its early employees, serving as a Research Scientist.
This trajectory almost directly led to today's Instinct: Agent reflection, tool invocation, real-task evaluation, enterprise Agent, culminating in his personal Agent.
Following the official announcement of Instinct, Conviction founder Sarah Guo, Altimeter founder Brad Gerstner, and former Yandex Search, AI, and Cloud Business Lead Andrey Styskin, among others, also congratulated in the comments section.
