Iran Says Temporary Agreement Reached on Hormuz Strait Temporary Route, Limited to Commercial Ships

BlockBeats News, August 26th – Iranian state television reported that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that, according to a new understanding between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz route, the route entering the Persian Gulf will pass through Iranian waters, and the route exiting the Persian Gulf will pass through Omani and Iranian waters. No military vessel will be allowed to pass through the strait, only allowing passage for commercial ships.

Khatibzadeh mentioned that the understanding between Iran and Oman does not mean an immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz. The passage arrangement mentioned above is a temporary measure, and the two countries will negotiate to designate a new permanent route within 30 to 60 days. Khatibzadeh emphasized that if Iran's demands and conditions are not met, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed. He stated that the prerequisites for reopening the strait include a complete cessation of all conflicts, including the Lebanon front line, the lifting of blockades, a proper resolution of the Yemen issue, and furthermore, the U.S. must fully fulfill all its previously unfulfilled commitments. Khatibzadeh said that the U.S.'s claim to have cleared mines from the Strait of Hormuz is "propaganda lies," and Iran will strike U.S. minesweepers entering the area.
