Qwen4 Not Yet Released, Architecture Comes First: Qwen3.8-Flash-Next to Be Released Tomorrow

ModelScope has launched the Qwen3.8-Flash-Next teaser page, which is a multimodal MoE (Mixture of Experts) based on the Qwen4 architecture, where only a subset of parameters is activated each time. It is expected to be publicly released on August 26 at 23:00. The official statement mentioned that the early release of this architecture is to allow the community to prepare for the upcoming full Qwen4 model family.

Strictly speaking, what will be available tomorrow night is not the official version of Qwen4, but more like a "Qwen4 Technology Preview." This approach has been used by Alibaba before. In 2025, the Qwen3-Next first introduced the Gated DeltaNet and a hybrid architecture of ordinary attention, which was later adopted in the Qwen3.5 series.

Alibaba only released the Qwen3.8-Max with 2.4T parameters earlier this month, and now, in less than a month, they are starting to unveil the next-generation architecture, maintaining a very rapid pace.
