Grayscale Launches Zcash Spot ETF, ZCSH Officially Listed on NYSE Arca

BlockBeats News, August 25th, Grayscale's Zcash Spot ETF was officially listed on the New York Stock Exchange Arca for trading, with the ticker symbol ZCSH, becoming the world's first exchange-traded product offering Zcash (ZEC) spot exposure. The product, formerly known as the Grayscale Zcash Trust, was established as a private placement as early as October 2017.

Grayscale stated that ZCSH aims to meet the demand of investors to obtain exposure to crypto assets other than Bitcoin and Ethereum through traditional brokerage accounts. Steve Vanourny, Head of Grayscale's Index Business, stated that Zcash has nearly a decade of network history, a fixed supply limit of 21 million coins, and a PoW mechanism. Additionally, it has an optional privacy feature that Bitcoin does not have. The company positions ZCSH as a high-risk satellite position in a digital asset portfolio.

It is worth noting that at the time of ZCSH's listing, the serious privacy system vulnerability previously disclosed by Zcash still attracted market attention. In May of this year, researchers found an exploitable vulnerability in the Zcash Orchard privacy pool, theoretically allowing attackers to counterfeit ZEC.

Subsequently, Zcash deployed an emergency patch in June and activated the Ironwood upgrade in July to replace the vulnerable Orchard privacy pool. It also implemented new supply accounting rules to restrict potentially counterfeit ZEC from entering circulation. Grayscale stated that it will focus on the adoption of the Ironwood upgrade, network security, exchange support, and privacy asset regulatory policies in the future.
