Xpeng's Robotics Department Completes Over $900 Million in Funding, Setting a New Record for Single-Batch Private Placement in China, with Participation from IDG, Tencent, and Alibaba

BlockBeats News, August 24th - Xpeng Motors announced today that its robotics division has completed its first round of funding of over $900 million, with a post-investment valuation exceeding $6.3 billion, setting a new record for single private financing in the field of embodied intelligence in China. This round was led by IDG Capital, with Tencent and Alibaba participating as strategic investors, and early investors in Momenta and Qcraft, GGV Capital, also joining.

The funds will be used for robot hardware and software development, physical AI model training and optimization, high-quality data collection, end-to-end mass production facility construction, and global expansion. Xpeng aims to achieve a monthly production of 1,000 IRON humanoid robots by the end of this year, initially deployed in its own retail stores and industrial parks, with commercial sales and delivery scheduled to commence in China and overseas markets from 2027.

CEO He Xiaopeng announced in June that he would personally lead the robotics business to push humanoid robot development into the mass production stage. Currently, several car companies are accelerating their entry into the robotics field, and Xpeng's accumulated capabilities in sensors, software, batteries, and supply chain management in smart driving are seen as core advantages. In April of this year, Shanghai's embodied intelligence startup, TARS Robotics, completed a Pre-A round of funding of over $455 million. At that time, it was hailed as the largest single private financing in the field of embodied intelligence in China. However, Xpeng's robotics division has now surpassed this with a new record of over $900 million.
