BlockBeats News, August 23rd, the Morgan Stanley Equity Research team conducted an annual survey of over 500 North American summer interns, with most respondents not older than 21 years old. Over a quarter of the interns stated that they had used a betting or prediction market application in the past year, with Kalshi and Polymarket being the most common choices; 55% of users used multiple betting apps simultaneously.
Prediction markets in the United States are facing increased scrutiny, with several states taking legal or regulatory actions against relevant platforms. Morgan Stanley's employee code of conduct covers trading and investment matters, including prediction markets, but insiders did not disclose more details. Another national survey found that 21% of adult Americans have used prediction market platforms, with the 18 to 34 age group at 37%.
On the AI front, 68% of interns use AI tools daily, up from 35% last year and 14% in 2024; about 70% of individuals personally subscribe to paid AI tools, up from 52% the previous summer. Meanwhile, 61% of respondents are concerned about AI replacing financial jobs, and 74% are concerned about employment displacement in other industries. Over 60% of individuals are interested in using humanoid robots at home, with 10% indicating they may be early adopters.
