South Korean Retail Investors Back in Crypto? Upbit's 24-hour Trading Volume Surges by 244.8%

BlockBeats News, August 21st, according to CoinGecko data, in the past 24 hours, Upbit's trading volume surged by 244.8% to reach $17.06 billion. The XRP/KRW trading pair held the top spot in the Korean won market with a 24.49% share of the total volume, followed by BTC, USDT, ETH, and ONG.


Prior to this, Korean retail investors poured $4.5 billion into US stocks in July, with approximately $840 million flowing into SK Hynix ADR. Meanwhile, Korean retail investors shifting to US stocks did not reduce their risk appetite, with AI, semiconductors, and high-leverage products still being the core focus. Among the top 10 most purchased US stocks by Korean investors in July, 4 were leveraged products, with the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares ETF (SOXL) being the most popular.
