Broadcom plans to raise over $60 billion, with the AI chip funding size potentially reaching $100 billion.

BlockBeats News, August 21st, according to Bloomberg sources, Broadcom is in talks with multiple lenders for a more than $600 billion AI chip financing deal, which will help AI companies including Anthropic access chips and other key AI infrastructure.

Sources said the financing package may include about $300 billion in junior debt, as well as senior secured debt in the range of $600 billion to $700 billion. Broadcom will provide guarantees for some of the senior secured debt, and if the currently discussed scale is used, the overall financing size could reach as high as $1 trillion.

Apollo and Blackstone are in discussions with Broadcom to participate in the financing. According to the plan, the relevant debt may be issued by special purpose vehicles (SPVs), and the transaction may proceed in phases, with the specific size and structure still subject to change.

This financing continues the AI infrastructure financing partnership model established by Broadcom, Apollo, and Blackstone. Previously, the three parties completed a financing of around $35 billion through the AI XPV platform, where investors such as Apollo and Blackstone funded custom AI chip purchases, which were then leased to Anthropic. Broadcom provided support for most of the debt, enabling the senior debt to receive an investment-grade rating and reducing the cost of financing.

The partnership plan ultimately supports the construction of over 20 gigawatts of computing capacity, equivalent to the power generation capacity of about 20 nuclear power plants, requiring an estimated hundreds of billions of dollars.

This potential financing further highlights the significant capital demand for AI infrastructure development. Recently, Nvidia also announced that financial institutions including BlackRock and Goldman Sachs are raising over $500 billion to support the expansion of the AI industry.

Broadcom's CEO previously stated that the company expects AI chip sales to exceed $100 billion in 2027. With Broadcom continuing to receive custom AI chip orders from companies like OpenAI, its presence in the AI chip and data center infrastructure market is further expanding, intensifying competition with Nvidia.
