Let AI Automatically Pick the Right Model and Chip, Callosum Seed Round Raises $100 Million

Insightful Beating AI News: UK AI infrastructure company Callosum has completed a $100 million seed funding round led by Atomico, with participation from Plural, DCVC, and the UK Sovereign AI Fund. It offers an AI scheduling software that automatically assigns suitable models and chips to different tasks, aiming to reduce costs and latency while ensuring performance.

It goes beyond traditional model routing by breaking down a complex task into sub-tasks and assigning them to different "model + chip" combinations. Simple steps can run on cost-effective small models, while latency-sensitive tasks can be handled by Cerebras. Other tasks can be allocated to various GPUs or AI acceleration chips.

In tests previously announced by Callosum, some combinations achieved cost reductions of up to one-twelfth of GPT-5 with similar accuracy levels, and speeds were boosted by up to 5.5 times.

Callosum is also the maiden equity investment from the UK's £500 million Sovereign AI Fund. The company has announced a partnership with Cerebras and has integrated chip manufacturers such as Rebellions and Axelera AI.
