Short-term Bitcoin holders transferred 44,300 BTC to a Centralized Exchange (CEX) yesterday, marking the largest profit-taking behavior so far this year.

BlockBeats News, August 20th - Cryptocurrency analyst Darkfost posted yesterday that Bitcoin recorded its largest daily gain since February 2026, with a daily increase of 7.1%. This surge led Bitcoin's price to break above the Short-Term Holder (STH) cost basis, triggering a large-scale profit-taking by short-term holders.

Data shows that yesterday, short-term holders moved over 44,300 BTC to exchanges, marking the largest profit-taking activity since 2026. Currently, the short-term holder cost basis is around $67,100, and after BTC surpassed this level, some holders who were previously in a profitable state began to shift their assets.

Darkfost attributed this round of price increase to several factors. The U.S. Treasury Secretary Benson previously announced that the U.S. would advance long-term bond repurchase operations and double the scale, leading to a rapid decline in long-term U.S. bond yields. Subsequently, Trump spoke at a White House special summit on the cryptocurrency industry, stating that the U.S. is considering purchasing a large amount of BTC and urging Congress to pass the Clarity Act, while expressing a willingness to promote Hyperliquid's entry into the U.S. market.

The market is still observing whether these policy statements are merely discussions or if the U.S. government's true intention is to become a global cryptocurrency hub. Currently, as BTC attempts to break through key resistance levels, including the short-term holder cost basis, short-term holders' on-chain behavior remains worth monitoring.
