After the U.S. Treasury Department announced a buyback plan, U.S. bond yields declined, U.S. stock futures rose in response, the U.S. dollar fell, and gold and silver surged.

BlockBeats News, August 19th, according to BIT (bit.com) market data, U.S. stock futures saw a short-term increase, with Nasdaq 100 Index futures up 0.45%, S&P 500 Index futures up 0.43%, and Dow Jones futures up 0.53%.

According to Bitget data, the U.S. Dollar Index experienced a short-term decline, falling by 0.64%. Long-term U.S. Treasury bond yields decreased, with the 30-year yield dropping by 9 basis points to 5.19% at one point. Spot gold saw its gains expand to 2.86%, now trading at $4457.25 per ounce. Spot silver rose by 2.8% to $65.09 per ounce.

Previously, the U.S. Treasury Department announced that it is planning to at least double the size of its liquidity support repurchase operations for long-term nominal Treasury securities, involving two maturity ranges: 10 to 20 years and 20 to 30 years. Currently, the maximum size per operation is $2 billion, and in the future, the size per operation will be increased to at least $4 billion.

This expansion of the repurchase operation size reflects the Treasury Department's intention to provide stronger liquidity support to the long-term Treasury market. The Treasury Department will later announce the updated arrangements for the temporary Treasury repurchase.
