In a Vogue interview released on the 16th, Cristiano Ronaldo expressed that the current stage might be his last year playing football, hoping to leave a remarkable end to his professional career. ESPN reported that Ronaldo had not previously set a definite time for retirement.

Ronaldo's contract with Al-Nassr will expire in June 2027, and he will continue to participate in the 2026–27 season. According to Reuters, he has currently scored 976 goals for both club and country, needing 24 more goals to reach 1,000. Ronaldo also hopes to play a senior team official match together with his son Cristiano Jr., who is a member of the Al-Nassr youth team.

Ronaldo was absent from Al-Nassr's first-round league match on August 15 due to returning to the team late and recovery training schedules. He watched the team win 3–0 against Al-Fateh and is expected to make his season debut against Al-Riyadh on August 21. Ronaldo has already begun planning for his post-retirement life, which includes spending time with family, traveling, and participating in padel sports.
