Alphabet is considering issuing its first Australian dollar bond, with debt financing becoming a key funding source for AI infrastructure expansion

BlockBeats News, August 17th, according to Bloomberg, Google's parent company Alphabet has hired banks to arrange its potential inaugural Australian dollar bond issuance. One of the appointed banks, ANZ Bank, confirmed through an email statement that the issuance may cover 4 tranches with the longest being up to 20 years. This move represents another step for U.S. tech giants tapping into the credit market to raise funds for AI investments. Earlier this month, Alphabet issued a $25 billion dollar bond and raised nearly $85 billion through equity financing. In addition to this Australian dollar bond plan, its financing channels for AI capital expenditures are rapidly expanding from the U.S. dollar market to the global multi-currency market.

Previously, Morgan Stanley projected that the global AI-related bond issuance in 2026 will reach nearly $570 billion, more than doubling from last year, with Alphabet being one of the most aggressive issuers. As mega-scale cloud players' capital expenditures continue to soar, debt financing has become a core funding source to support the expansion of AI infrastructure.
