BlockBeats News, August 5th: Western Union has announced a partnership with Rain to launch Stablecard, a product that integrates a digital wallet with a Visa-backed credit card. This product supports users in holding, transferring, and spending the USD-pegged stablecoin USDPT. USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana network, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, and fully backed by reserve assets.
The initial launch of Stablecard covers 37 markets, allowing users to receive Western Union transfers directly into their USDPT wallet, spend at Visa-accepting merchants and ATMs, and add the card to Apple Pay and Google Pay. Western Union plans to expand this service to over 60 markets by the end of this year.
