Apple Former Engineer Leaks Case: OpenAI Releases Chat Logs 'Reversal,' Apple Also Accuses Him of Downloading Files Through Another Vulnerability

According to Dynamic Beating monitoring, Apple has accused former engineer Chang Liu of exploiting a system vulnerability after resigning, accessing the internal network drive, and downloading dozens of confidential files to assist OpenAI in hardware development. OpenAI has now released chat logs, alleging that Apple concealed another side of the story.

The records show that after Liu's resignation, Apple colleagues continued to use his work devices, transferring Apple files from them. Subsequently, these colleagues proactively reached out to him to inquire about file locations and project details, even stating: "Although you have resigned, you are the most suitable person to ask."

OpenAI argues that after Liu left, he accessed Apple data at the request of Apple colleagues. Apple did not completely cut off personal iCloud access to work files, leading to a messy offboarding process.

However, these chat records have not yet overturned the entire lawsuit. Apple also accuses Liu of separately exploiting an authentication bug to download files and accuses hardware lead Tang Tan of soliciting vendor and product information. OpenAI has mainly refuted some of Liu's accusations.
