BlockBeats News, August 4th, Hashdex announced its plan to liquidate its Hashdex Bitcoin ETF (DEFI). As of July 30th, the fund had an AUM of approximately $14.7 million and was the only fund under Hashdex Commodities Trust. Hashdex stated that its other products targeting US investors still have AUM exceeding $200 million.
Investors can sell their fund shares on August 17th before market close via NYSE Arca. The fund will stop accepting creations by authorized participants on that day and subsequently halt trading before delisting. Shareholders who continue to hold until the close of August 17th are expected to receive a cash liquidation payment around August 28th.
Following the final trading day, the fund will sell its remaining Bitcoin holdings, cease pursuing its original investment objective, and only carry out activities such as liquidation, debt repayment, and asset distribution to shareholders.
The liquidation payment received by shareholders will be calculated based on the fund's NAV on the liquidation date, minus the costs associated with the closure and sale. Hashdex advises that during the fund's Bitcoin sell-off, there may be significant price fluctuations that could affect the final distribution amount.
