US Media: US European Command Issues Warning, Saying It Lacks Sufficient Force to Protect Israel

BlockBeats News, August 1st, according to The Washington Post, multiple officials said that U.S. European Command Commander Alexus Grynkewich privately warned the Pentagon this week that they lacked sufficient naval forces to continue protecting Israel from ballistic missile attacks, underscoring the ongoing strain of the Iran conflict on U.S. military resources.

The commander stated that if another Navy destroyer could not be made available, he would be forced to choose between defending the U.S. “homeland” and defending Israel. A U.S. defense official said Grynkewich's warning was consistent with earlier notifications from senior U.S. military leaders alerting the Pentagon to risks that need to be considered at the U.S. level. The official said that such situations could arise as combatant commanders vie for limited resources and weapons.
