According to DeepTech Beat monitoring, the chip and AI infrastructure research firm SemiAnalysis is in the process of raising a $400 million venture capital fund. U.S. SEC filings show that the fund is named SemiAnalysis Capital Fund I and is managed by founder Dylan Patel.
Patel has already backed around 20 startups, including Thinking Machines Lab and chipmaker Enfabrica. He previously raised $50 million to specifically invest in AI infrastructure company Fluidstack.
SemiAnalysis has previously built its influence through researching chips and AI infrastructure. Now it is scaling up its fundraising efforts to make direct investments in the industry it has long been following. It may evaluate related companies while holding stakes in them, making future disclosures of investment relationships even more critical.
