Chalklea disclosed a "Stock Trading Loss of $56 million," CEO Zhang Xiaolong had boasted last month about earning $53 million in a month from trading tech stocks

BlockBeats News, July 28th, Hong Kong-listed company Chalk Group (02469.HK) announced its interim results forecast. In additional disclosures, the group revealed that during the period from July 1st to 7th, 2026, it sold several ETF products and listed securities purchased through the open market, resulting in a total investment loss of approximately $8.3 million (about RMB 56.15 million). As of last Friday's close (July 24th), the group still held listed securities of three public companies in its investment portfolio at fair value through profit or loss, with a total value of about $8.5 million. The Board of Directors stated that they would closely monitor the performance of the investment portfolio.

It is worth noting that on June 3rd, CEO of China's civil service exam training leader Chalk Education, Zhang Xiaolong, was invited to give a career planning lecture at Renmin University of China. The original topic was about civil service exams, but it was spontaneously changed to "Career Planning in the AI Era." Zhang vigorously promoted stock trading as the best future employment direction, claiming it's best to trade in technology stocks, better to trade in U.S. stocks, and best for the whole family to trade together. He also boasted that he invested $80 million in cash last month and made a profit of $5.3 million in a month. Due to the indifferent response from the students present, Zhang Xiaolong lost his temper, cursed at the students, and angrily left the venue. Earlier this month, Zhang Xiaolong had resigned from his positions as Executive Director, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Chalk.

According to Bitget market data, Hong Kong's Chalk (02469.HK) plummeted nearly 17% today, hitting a new all-time low.
