Oman Proposes Establishing Hormuz Strait Regional Governance Mechanism, Iran to Relinquish Sole Control

The proposal involves adopting a voluntary fee model to fund navigation management, environmental protection, search and rescue, and other projects.

Sources stated that under this proposal, Iran would not have sole control over the Strait of Hormuz. The plan is inspired by the management model of the Malacca Strait, which allows relevant parties to voluntarily contribute funds to maintain the safety of the waterway and its associated services. Currently, Oman's proposed plan has received regional support.
