BlockBeats News, July 28th, Citrini analyst Jukan posted on social media stating that the news of China's progress in DUV lithography technology was not particularly surprising, as the market had previously formed certain expectations. He pointed out that The Information's related report only cited a speech by a professor from a Chinese university at an internal meeting in June, without disclosing more substantial information. Jukan believes that the sell-off reaction of semiconductor equipment stocks such as ASML was overdone due to this news.
Earlier reports, according to The Information citing sources familiar with the matter, a state-owned capital-supported company has begun mass-producing domestically developed DUV (Deep Ultraviolet) lithography equipment, marking a key breakthrough in the localization of China's semiconductor industry.
The sources stated that the company plans to produce about 5 domestic DUV lithography machines in 2026 and expand to about 20 in 2027. Although there is still a gap compared to the 131 sets of immersion DUV lithography systems delivered by the Dutch lithography giant ASML last year, the entry of domestic equipment into the mass production stage is seen by the market as a significant breakthrough in China's semiconductor supply chain autonomy.
