AI Boom Drives 80% Surge in Foreign Direct Investment Applications in Thailand in the First Half of the Year

BlockBeats News, July 23rd, driven by the artificial intelligence and data center project investment boom, foreign investors have applied to invest 13.7 trillion Thai baht (approximately $406 billion) in Thailand in the first half of 2026, an 80% increase from the same period last year.

The Secretary-General of the Thailand Board of Investment, Narit Therdsteerasukdi, stated that in the six months leading up to June 30th, the board received a total of 1299 domestic and foreign investment applications, with a total investment amount of 14.7 trillion Thai baht, including 877 foreign direct investment projects. The digital sector alone accounts for 11.2 trillion Thai baht, more than three-quarters of the total applications.

These investment projects also indicate that the Middle East conflict has driven up energy and other costs but has not diminished Thailand's attractiveness.
