《Financial Times》: Samsung in Talks to Invest in Mistral, Valuation Could Reach €20 Billion

BlockBeats News, July 22nd - According to the Financial Times, insiders revealed that Samsung is in talks to participate in a new round of funding for the artificial intelligence startup Mistral. This round of financing could potentially value Mistral at around €20 billion, helping the French company emerge as a primary alternative to American tech giants.

One insider stated that Samsung had previously supported the company through its venture capital arm and is now considering investing around €1 billion in the new funding round. This discussion reflects a broader trend where AI developers are actively seeking partnerships with semiconductor suppliers to address the industry's significantly higher demand for computing power than supply.

Following the Trump administration's ban last month on foreign access to Anthropic's latest Mythos and Fable models, European and Asian companies and governments have shown increasing interest in alternative AI models that are not dominated by U.S. technology. Since its inception, Mistral has been focused on developing open-source AI models that allow customers to customize and control, ensuring that no company or government can shut down these models.
