Whale Capitulation Measures This Round of Semiconductor Rebound, All-in-One Longs **“Miss Out”** on $1.66 Million Recovery

BlockBeats News, July 21st, according to Hyperinsight monitoring, on the morning of July 17th, the whale previously tracking the "long semiconductor sector" concentratedly closed out 8 long positions in semiconductor and storage-focused tech stocks, with a total nominal amount of approximately $17.869 million, realizing a cumulative loss of approximately $9.681 million.

Compared to the closing price on July 17th, 6 out of the 8 targets have regained lost ground. The AI computing power target NBIS rebounded the most (+16.0%), followed by MRVL (+13.0%) and CRCL (+12.0%), with the three storage companies MU (+10.3%), SNDK (+9.4%), and SKHX (+6.6%) in the middle; while domestic companies CXMT (-0.8%) and ZHIPU (-16.4%) are still trading below their cut-off prices of that day, this round of recovery is basically driven by the U.S. and South Korean semiconductor market.

In retrospect, this move almost hit the low point of the phase. If they had held their positions, the theoretical loss of this portfolio would have been $1.6317 million less, equivalent to a 17% reduction in the original loss. Details of each target are as follows:

- Marvell (MRVL): Average price $317.2, average closing price $182.8, actual loss $4.309 million; could have lost $744,000 less;

- Sandisk (SNDK): Average price $2183.6, average closing price $1356.32, actual loss $1.909 million; could have lost $287,000 less;

- SK Hynix (SKHX): Average price $1620.2, average closing price $1175.3, actual loss $1.865 million; could have lost $338,000 less;

- Micron Technology (MU): Average price $1111, average closing price $826.2, actual loss $510,000; could have lost $148,000 less;

- Nebius (NBIS): Average price $253.80, average closing price $166.5, actual loss $463,000; could have lost $144,000 less;

- Circle (CRCL): Average price $76.59, average closing price $60.2, actual loss $212,000; could have lost $95,100 less;

- Zhipu (ZHIPU): Average price $287.1, average closing price $182.2, actual loss $405,000; the floating loss has now expanded to $531,400.

- Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC): Average price $7.3, liquidation average price $6.8, realized loss about $5,808; if held to date, unrealized loss about $6,576.

Explanation: The bounceback only changed the depth of the loss. As the investor chased the price at a high level, the current prices of all 8 assets are still far below their original cost. Even if held until today, breaking even is still not possible; ZHIPU and YMTC are still priced 16.4% and 0.8% lower than their liquidation prices, respectively. For this whale, the decision made on July 17 was whether to lose $9.68 million or $8.02 million.
