Trump's Longtime Insider Earns Another $100,000, Successfully Predicts Speeches with Teleprompter

According to PolyBeats monitoring, as reported by Reuters, NPR, and other media outlets, Donald Trump's longtime teleprompter operator Gabriel Perez is reportedly under investigation by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for allegedly engaging in insider trading on the prediction market Kalshi. The accounts in question were frozen by Kalshi before any withdrawals could be made, with alleged profits ranging from over $90,000 to nearly $100,000.

Perez has been in charge of the teleprompter since the 2016 Trump campaign, being one of the last individuals to see the full speech before the official address, potentially having access to last-minute changes before Trump took the stage. Reports indicate that he is accused of trading on Kalshi's "word mention markets," where users predict whether Trump will say a specific word or phrase during a public speech, such as "Hormuz" or "fake news."

Investigators claim to have found that Perez traded on over a dozen Trump speech-related markets over a period of about three months, covering events such as the State of the Union address, Davos World Economic Forum speeches, prime-time national addresses, and Medal of Honor ceremonies, among others. Furthermore, as Trump often ad-libs or skips portions of his prepared speeches, investigators allege that Perez would sometimes swiftly exit relevant positions during the speech if Trump deviated from the script and did not mention a key word.

The suspicious trading activity was ultimately flagged by Kalshi itself. The platform, through customer profiles, account monitoring, and feedback from market makers, linked the trades to the White House teleprompter work, subsequently freezing the accounts and referring the matter to the CFTC.
