Xi Jinping Attends WAIC for the First Time: Development of Artificial Intelligence Should Not Become a Solo Show by Any Country

He also called for ensuring that AI always remains under human control. Countries should establish legal regulations, technical monitoring, risk warnings, and emergency response systems to prevent AI misuse.

Xi Jinping also opposed the broadening of the concept of national security at the expense of other countries. AI should not undermine the cultural characteristics of nations and the diversity of world civilizations.

China will cooperate with Asian, African, Latin American, and BRICS countries to help developing countries build AI capabilities, avoiding AI creating new global inequalities. The China-US AI competition is expanding from chips and models to open-source pathways and global rules.
