Three British Men Sentenced for Cryptocurrency Scam, Involving Over £4 Million

BlockBeats News, July 17th, the UK police announced that three men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in a cryptocurrency scam. The group stole over £4 million (approximately $5.4 million) worth of cryptocurrency from victims.

According to the investigation, the group impersonated police officers and lured victims to visit a fake police website. Once the victims interacted on the fake website, the scammers obtained their cryptocurrency wallet information and transferred the assets, then laundered the funds through a sophisticated financial network.

The UK police stated that this case once again highlights the risks of "social engineering attacks" and identity theft in cryptocurrency scams, reminding users to remain vigilant and avoid entering wallet or account information on unverified websites.
