YC Partner Tom Blomfield takes a leave of absence from YC to join the Anthropic computing power team

According to Dynamic Beating monitoring, YC partner and Monzo co-founder Tom Blomfield has announced a temporary departure from YC to join Anthropic. He will be working alongside co-founder Tom Brown, focusing on compute-related efforts.

This team is responsible for securing chips, cloud services, and data center resources for model training and deployment. Blomfield stated that AI is entering an early stage of recursively self-improving, where compute supply will be one of the most critical issues.

Blomfield is taking a leave of absence from YC this time and has not yet announced a formal departure.
