OpenAI has discontinued the Atlas browser, which was launched less than a year ago, and integrated it into ChatGPT.

According to 动察 Beating monitoring, OpenAI will cease operation of its standalone browser, ChatGPT Atlas. Atlas will shut down on August 9, less than a year after its launch.

The primary capabilities of Atlas will be integrated into ChatGPT and Codex. The new version of ChatGPT for desktop has incorporated the browser, allowing for multiple tabs, file downloads, website login, and Agent interaction with web pages. Users can also invoke ChatGPT through a Chrome extension.

Bookmarks, tabs, and browsing history from Atlas will not be automatically transferred. Users are required to manually export their bookmarks and save important web pages before the service shutdown.

OpenAI had previously released ChatGPT, Codex, and Atlas as separate products. Now, these three are beginning to merge into a single desktop application, with Atlas being the first standalone product to be discontinued.
