「Did Ronaldo Really Cry」 Earth-shattering Reversal, Someone Made a Fortune with a Lucky Find of $140,000

According to PolyBeats monitoring, previously, the question "Will C Ronaldo cry at the World Cup?" on Polymarket once became one of the most controversial rule debates of this World Cup. After Portugal's 0-1 loss to Spain, nearly all global media outlets were writing about Ronaldo's World Cup farewell with "tears," but the market, due to the rule requiring "clearly visible tears on the face," at one point pushed the probability of "yes" to around 20%.

However, early this morning, Polymarket officially issued a clarification stating that "at the time of this clarification, there already existed photos and video evidence that meet the criteria, with footage from post-match Portugal vs. Spain showing Ronaldo in tears with visible tear streaks on his face."

After the clarification was released, the market quickly reversed, leading to significant losses for smart money accounts that had initially bet on "no" as a safe financial move. On the other hand, accounts that bet on "yes" emerged as the biggest winners. Among them, Bertapotamous achieved a 4x profit through this "official stance clarification," with profits exceeding $140,000.

The most dramatic account was Kidfp. It originally held "yes," but after the market deemed it non-compliant with the rules, it cut losses, losing about $20,000; then, it bought "no," but after Polymarket's official clarification recognized the existence of qualifying evidence, the "no" position also lost thousands of dollars. This account almost perfectly timed the two reversals in this controversial market.
