Trump Says U.S.-Iran Temporary Ceasefire Agreement Has Ended

BlockBeats News, July 8th - U.S. President Trump has stated that the temporary ceasefire agreement he reached with Iran is over, escalating the possibility of renewed military conflict between the two countries. "As far as I'm concerned, it's over," he said at the NATO annual summit on Wednesday. "To me, it was just a waste of time." Trump made these remarks shortly after the U.S. launched a new round of strikes against Iran and revoked exemptions allowing the sale of Iranian oil. These actions were in response to recent attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, bringing new volatility to the energy market and testing the already fragile peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran.

Trump stated: "I don't want to deal with them, but they are thugs. Do you know what a thug is? They're thugs. They're sick people, led by sick people, and they're very vicious people. If they had nuclear weapons, they'd use them." However, Trump said he would not stop negotiators from continuing to engage, although he expressed pessimism about this strategy. He said, "They have a problem, they're mentally deranged. They can talk, but I think they're wasting their time." (FXStreet)
