According to AI Beat Monitoring, as exclusively reported by 36Kr, Xiaomi recently conducted a new round of organizational restructuring for its core artificial intelligence product, "Xiao Ai Assistant."
After the adjustment, Xiao Ai Assistant's technical architecture has been decoupled into three major modules: the foundational large model capability is provided by the MiMo Big Model Team led by Luo Fuli; the cloud engineering infrastructure is managed by the team led by Luan Jian, who encapsulates the large model into a stable and reliable interface; and the core product feature development on the "edge" is directly delegated to the operating system (OS) teams of mobile phones, cars, and other terminal businesses. Wang Gang, who has led the Xiao Ai team for nearly a decade, has been reassigned to the robot business in this restructuring.
The demand for on-device AI in high-performance terminals such as smartphones and cars was the primary driver of this reorganization. In the past, all Xiaomi devices relied on standardized capabilities provided by the cloud. Due to the need to accommodate low-power hardware like Xiao Ai speakers, high-performance devices such as smartphones and in-cabin terminals were unable to fully utilize their hardware capabilities. After the architectural adjustment, the OS teams of mobile phones and cars will be able to develop customized intelligent features based on local computing power. Xiaomi's Chairman Lei Jun previously revealed that Xiaomi will invest at least 60 billion yuan in the field of artificial intelligence over the next three years, focusing on "reshaping the human-vehicle-home ecosystem with the Intelligent Agent paradigm." The loosening and decoupling of this organizational structure is the starting point for the implementation of this strategy.
