Coinbase's AI Preemptively “Predicts” World Cup Match Results, Sparking Controversy; Official States Issue Has Been Resolved and System Optimized

BlockBeats News, July 6th, Coinbase sent users an AI-generated "Breaking News" alert, claiming that Norway beat Brazil 3:2 and that Haaland scored twice. However, the notification was sent before the game had started, leading to user skepticism. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that an investigation had been initiated, and the company later confirmed that the issue had been fixed. They also updated the system to prevent similar AI-generated content errors from occurring again.

Coinbase's Consumer and Business Products Lead, Max Branzburg, mentioned that AI-driven 24/7 market information has potential but still needs further optimization for accuracy. It is worth noting that the actual result of the match was Norway defeating Brazil 2:1, with Haaland scoring two goals. However, both the score and the timing of the AI alert were incorrect.

At the time of the incident, Coinbase was actively advancing its prediction market business. This year, they have provided U.S. users with event contracts related to sports, elections, and macroeconomics through Kalshi. The prediction market is seen as a key part of Coinbase's strategy to create an all-in-one trading platform.
