AI "Job Grabbing" Narrative Cools Down, Tech Giant CEOs Shift to Collective Optimism

BlockBeats News, July 6th. In recent days, several executives from tech companies have adjusted their views on the AI job impact, shifting from previously emphasizing that "AI will massively replace jobs" to believing that AI is more about enhancing productivity and creating new roles. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that the industry had underestimated the role of humans in the AI system, while Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei mentioned that AI could both drive layoffs and help companies accomplish more business without increasing manpower, with the outcome depending on management decisions.

A recent survey by EY-Parthenon showed that the percentage of corporate executives who believed AI investment would lead to mass layoffs had decreased from 46% in January 2025 to 20% in May 2026. A joint study by Ramp and Revelio Labs revealed that companies with the highest AI investment intensity had a roughly 10% higher employee growth rate compared to similar companies that had not embraced AI.

Although Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy have both expressed optimism about AI creating more job opportunities, their companies have continued to streamline their organizations this year, sparking doubts in the market about the corporate AI narrative.

A study by tech consulting firm Emergn showed that around 20% of US corporate managers stated that internal AI projects had reports exaggerating benefits and downplaying issues. Industry insiders believe that the commercialization of AI is progressing slower than market expectations, and the effectiveness of AI applications varies significantly across different industries and scenarios.
