BlockBeats News, July 6th, Samsung Electronics' Foundry Division achieved a monthly profit in June this year. This is the first time the division has recorded a monthly profit since 2023. Industry insiders believe that the increase in High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) basic chip orders and the improvement in advanced process yield have reduced fixed costs, driving the recovery of profitability. At the current trend, Samsung's Foundry business is expected to turn a quarterly profit in the third quarter of this year.
Although the overall performance in the second quarter was still affected by losses from April to May, it is difficult to determine if the entire quarter has already been profitable. However, with the monthly profit turnaround in June, it is widely believed internally at Samsung that the possibility of achieving a quarterly profit in the third quarter has significantly increased.
Analysts believe this is the first time Samsung's Foundry Division has achieved a monthly profit since 2023. In recent years, the business has been in a long-term loss-making state, mainly due to factors such as low yield in advanced processes, loss of major customers, and underutilization of production capacity.
