BlockBeats News, June 26th, Coinbase-supported Ethereum Layer2 network Base has resumed block production and transaction processing this morning after experiencing an approximately two-hour interruption.
The Base team stated that the network is now back to normal operation, with internal nodes syncing correctly, but the root cause of the failure is still under investigation. At the same time, the team recommended that ecosystem node operators restart their Base nodes to restore synchronization.
The incident was first detected early this morning at 00:03 when Base reported an "unhealthy" mainnet block production status. At 00:52, the team confirmed that the issue had been identified and initiated multiple repair measures. This event caused a temporary halt to transaction processing on this major Ethereum Layer2 network.
As of now, Base has not disclosed the specific reason for the abnormal block generation in this incident, nor has it clarified whether the incident was caused by a software vulnerability or a consensus mechanism-related problem. It is worth noting that Base had previously experienced a network outage in August 2025.
