China's Supreme Procuratorate Announces Major Drug-Related Money Laundering Case: Li laundered over 48 million yuan through cryptocurrency, sentenced to death for multiple offenses

BlockBeats News, June 25th – At a press conference held by the Supreme People's Procuratorate on June 25th, Deputy Procurator-General Miao Shengming introduced that the procuratorial organs are thoroughly investigating crimes of "self-laundering" and "third-party laundering," vigorously promoting the recovery of assets related to drug offenses, and ensuring full coverage in combating drug-related money laundering crimes. From January 2025 to May 2026, procuratorial organs nationwide have prosecuted over 1200 individuals involved in drug-related money laundering crimes. For instance, in a major case of cross-border drug smuggling, trafficking, and money laundering handled by the Chongqing procuratorial organ under the supervision of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the defendant Li was sentenced to death for multiple crimes, including laundering over 48 million yuan through virtual currency.
