GPT-5.6 and Gemini 3.5 Pro Launch Postponed to July, OpenAI's New Speech Model Expected to Go Live This Week

According to TrendForce's Beating Monitor, renowned tech blogger @synthwavedd revealed that several highly anticipated AI frontier models have adjusted their release schedules this week, with both GPT-5.6 and Gemini 3.5 Pro being postponed. The original launch date of GPT-5.6, which was rumored to be this week, has been pushed back to mid-July, while Google DeepMind has canceled the planned release of Gemini 3.5 Pro at the end of June due to dissatisfaction with the current state of the model.

While several models are facing delays, the rollout preparation of OpenAI's next-generation bidirectional voice model, Bidi, is progressing on the ChatGPT platform and is set to be opened to users as early as this week. Bidi supports full-duplex conversations, allowing users to speak simultaneously with the large model or interrupt at any time, positioning it as a significant upgrade to existing voice models.

Anthropic has granted early access to Claude Sonnet 5 to some enterprise customers. As the unlocking of the flagship models Mythos 5 and Fable 5 has stalled, Claude Sonnet 5 is seen by Anthropic as a transitional solution to ease competitive pressures.
