BlockBeats News, June 23rd - On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that its first data center facility in Moundridge has been completed. The facility finished equipment installation and commissioning in April and is now fully operational, marking a significant milestone in the company's ongoing investment in southeastern Wisconsin. The facility was announced for construction in May 2024, and over the past two years, nearly ten thousand construction workers have been actively involved in the project, completing the engineering work ahead of schedule.
Currently, the facility has around 550 full-time employees on-site supporting its operations. Microsoft and its contractors are actively hiring, with the workforce expected to continue growing over time. Microsoft's Vice Chair and President, Brad Smith, stated: "With our Fairwater data center now fully operational, Wisconsin has emerged as a global hub for supercomputing. The campus will power global AI innovation and provide long-term economic opportunities for the region through hundreds of high-skilled jobs and ongoing investments in the community."
