Foreign Holdings of U.S. Treasury Securities Reach $9.35 Trillion, Hitting Second-Highest Level in History

BlockBeats News, June 21st, according to the latest data disclosure, foreign holdings of US Treasury securities in April increased by $3.9 billion, reaching $9.35 trillion, hitting the second-highest level on record.


Japan, as the largest foreign holder of US debt, increased its holdings by $18.3 billion to $1.21 trillion, the highest since February;

The UK, as the second-largest holder, added $10.6 billion, reaching a record high of $937.5 billion;

China, as the third-largest holder, reduced its holdings by $1.2 billion to $651.1 billion, the lowest since September 2008;

Meanwhile, Canada, as the seventh-largest foreign holder, reduced its holdings by $42.3 billion to $397.1 billion, the lowest since January.


The US Treasury market is growing but remains diversified.
